EAT HEALTHY AND ENOUGH !!!! EXERCISE REGULARLY
AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, DO IT IN A HEALTHY WAY AND DO NOT RUSH FOR RESULTS… LET YOUR BODY TAKE ITS TIME❤️❤️
If you’re not a morning person, you know the struggle. It’s not just about waking up, it’s about actually getting yourself to do stuff in the morning. While I usually recommend you adapt to your body’s own schedule, as you’ll work much better, school, work or other activities may not allow you to do so. Therefore, here’s a guide on how to get shit done in the morning.
The night before
- Prepare whatever study materials you’re going to use that day. Open your notes and make sure you know where you should start (i personally lay a pen on the exact paragraph).
- Put a bottle of water and some tea (with caffeine) or coffee on your desk so that you don’t have to go get it next morning.
- If you’re usually cold in the mornings, get yourself a blanket. I promise you mine has made me more productive than all the coffee I’ve ever had.
- Write a to-do list for next day. Then distribute those tasks in a schedule (you can either use a printable or just scribble it on some piece of paper). Take into account you’ll need time for breakfast and personal hygiene.
- Other than that, don’t leave anything else on your desk, as it may be distracting.
- Make an effort to go to bed at least an hour earlier. It makes a huge difference when you wake up
Actually waking up
if you struggle to wake up, try the following:
- Ask someone to wake you up (a parent, a roommate).
- Put your phone accross the room and inside a glass to amplify the sound.
- If your phone has an option for voice alarm, use it. Make it something really motivating or, even better, really annoying.
- Combine all of the above for foolproof results.
Tips to get stuff done
- Chug your liquids! - The very first thing you should do after your feet touch the floor is drink some water and drink something caffeinated (yes, in that order) (caffeine because it will kick in by the time you’re done with breakfast and water because caffeine can be dehydrating + water will also jumpstart your body).
- Put on some fluffy socks - okay maybe this is just a personal thing but I’m personally much less likely to go back to bed once i have some socks on.
- Smol workout - do something that will send blood to your brain. It can literally be ten jumping jacks.
- Breakfast? Not yet - you’ve gotten up, you want food, understandable. BUT remember that book/notebook you put on your table last night? Well, get to work on it for 15-30 minutes. You may be sleepy and not able to comprehend much of what you’re doing, but the important thing is that once you come back from having breakfast, you will already have started, which is the most difficult part.
- Avoid anything with a shit-ton of sugar - it will give you a sugar crash in about an hour and all you’ll want to do is go back to bed. (Personal rec is overnight oats with some fruit on top - delicious, fast af and super filling and energizing).
- A big breakfast can make you sleepy. Instead, make it a little bit smaller and have some healthy snacks (like hummus) throughout the morning. Look at them as your reward for studying.
- Stay off the internet. During breakfast, I find that social media (especially youtube) tend to put me off working afterwards, as they give me something more insteresting to do. Therefore I reccommend you either find something else to do (write your to do list, read a book) or limit your Internet time to 5-10 minutes.
- Remember that you control your mindset. If after doing all of this you still don’t feel like studying, it’s perfectly okay to stare at your desk for five minutes and have an argument with yourself about how much you do want to study. Seems stupid but trust me, it works most of the time.

Oh man. Well first off, I do not always feel confident and cool, I don’t think anyone does. There’s definitely things about myself and my body that I wish I could change. But when I get twisted up, there’s a few things that help me keep it in perspective:
1. Everybody is a set of strengths and weaknesses. Yup, I have a shit metabolism but you should see my memory. Yeah, I’ll never be able to sing but man can I put together an outfit. So every time I get down about something, I remember that in the grand scheme of humanity, I have some pretty amazing skills. And when I really think about it, I wouldn’t trade my greatest strengths for my greatest weaknesses. Which is related to…
2. Only worry about what’s (a) in your control and (b) what you choose to prioritize. I spent ages in high school thinking that if I just worked out more or ate less then I’d have that lovely, willowy thin type of body that looks amazing and effortless in clothes. But I spent a summer playing/teaching tennis pretty much full time and eating really damn well and guess what, my thighs didn’t magically go away. I have a body that’s built much more like a Serena than a Venus, and I’ve learned that anything outside of unhealthy extreme isn’t going to change that. So, I let it go. Do I sometimes look at an outfit and think “god I would love to look good in that”? Yup. But I’ve learned to either ignore trends that are definitely never going to work on me or find ways of re-working them (straight slip dresses? absolutely not. But add a waistline in here or some twisting there and we’re talking). If something is able to be improved and really matters to you, work on it. Otherwise, you have to give yourself a break.
3. Stop caring about people that aren’t worth your time. I know, this is horrible advice that begs the question “But HOW?” For me, I regularly prune people out of my life. If your opinion about me doesn’t, or shouldn’t, matter to me, then you don’t either. Poof, begone. I have a small and tight group of people I care about, and their opinions do matter to me. If my boyfriend says I need to tone it down, that’s probably a good call. If my mom says I shouldn’t judge someone so quickly, she’s probably right. So think about who in your life is important - who complements your weaknesses, who always knows just what to say, who isn’t afraid to say what you don’t want to hear - and chop off the excess. I promise you’ll feel lighter not carrying around the weight of unnecessary people’s expectations or judgements.
4. And most importantly…have goals. If you’re focused and know what you want, it’s much easier to brush off people, ideas, thoughts, that can knock you down. Focus on what’s ahead and you’ll realize just how unnecessary a lot of the crap you’re dealing with is. Stupid relationship drama, bitchy ‘friends,’ nasty comments, it all rolls off like water on a duck when you have a vision you’re working towards. When high school used to get too much, I would close my eyes and try to picture what life would be like Cam, walking to lectures on cobblestone streets, punting on the river, candlelit dinners… Having a vision for the life you want outside of the bubble you’re in can make all the difference.
That’s pretty much what I’ve got. I hope some of that is helpful. The long and short is: make sure you’re on the track to be the person you want to be, flaws in areas that don’t matter balanced out with strengths that do. Good luck.
A friendly studyblr reminder that your health matters more.
If you feel like your body doesn’t add up to the motivation anymore, give yourself that well-deserved rest. Make yourself a hot chocolate or a cup of tea, go to bed for at least for a few hours, and watch a movie. Or even take a long, long nap if you can. Do what it takes to build yourself back up. You deserve it. And if you really want to study, then pick up one of your text books and read them from the depth of your bed. Don’t take notes, don’t overthink it. Just read through it like you are reading an actual novel or article. Still : if you are really tired, the best thing to do is to lie down and close your eyes.
Your health is more important than anything. I understand that a lot of us have exams and deadlines coming up, but at least try to give yourself an eight-to-ten-hours night. It’s so important that you take care of yourself, especially in those times of pressure.
